The last we left this mess , the House of Saud was having brunch with the Mossad . Now , our good friend Vlad has decided it's time . ( I love the sticktoitiveness of KGB training .)

Upfront apologies for any resulting buzzkill.......

Part of me says "No way."

Part of me says "Why not?"

I hate the conspiracy crowd for being mindless wannabe Alex Jones douchbag sheep, but..........

If you look at a map, the US has boots on the ground in Afghanistan and Iraq. Which just so happen to sandwich Iran. Persians hate Arabs and vice versa (a gross generalization, but some historical context). The Saudis give the Israelis air corridors to Iran so they in essence have chosen sides via the Pontius Pilate method.

I think there may be something to the whispers that this is prepositioning in an oil resource war. If 'we' control Iran - we control Hormuz and can ensure oil flows. Geographically, a solid land mass collective of pro Western (read US) Iraq-Afghanistan-Iran would conveniently allow for construction of "Pipelinastan" to the undeveloped oil fields in Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan (and probably a couple of other I-Have-Oil-A-Stans)

All empires eventually end up in a resource war - whether the resource is spices, gold, oil or land. The US just happens to be the current world empire. I'm not saying it's right - it's just what empires do. I'll be honest - I am selfish and am content with the team I'm on. I'll stick here with the red white and blue and "Wave That Flag" until the shit hits the fan.

And eventually, the empire stretches too thin and collapses and a new empire rises. The US is no different - this empire too will fail. I have to laugh at the supreme arrogance of our government leaders who dismiss this kind of talk as nonsense. All of the pieces are in place - a fiat currency, crushing, unsustainable debt, obliviots in power, obliviots who continue to put them in power, addiction to a finite, non-renewable resource, an jack whacked economic growth model (Keynesians suck dog ass IMNSHO) dependent on consumption of petroleum based energy AND consumption of finite resources for sustained growth, a population of unjustifiably self entitled slackers who WANT more than they PROVIDE, etc., (I could go on, but you get the point).

The US empire will fail, and then it will be left to us to unfuck things - hence my repeated calls for "Got Community" most of you have seen in my other posts.

Kinda sorta sounds like something a wise man we all know of once said something along the lines of - "Well something has to be done and I find it incredibly pathetic that it has to be us."

I hope you weren't apologizing for my buzzkill . It's been dead for some time now . I posted this to you b/c we see the playing field in the relatively same manner , and I don't want to subject the whole forum to this geo-political stuff . Also , it's far too late to argue with people and energies have to be placed elsewhere .
The Persians are a proud people who will fight , the terrain sucks for combat , and the Straight of Hormuz will be shut off . It's not a walkover like Iraq ( the combat phase ).
Why would Putin give them the fuel ? During the Great Game , Russia played w/ Persia just as GB did . I guess things are forgiven , but memories are long in that neighborhood .
Putin does want that pipeline to go north through his lands re: the attack on Georgia in '08 , and his intervention in the Ukrainian elections .
I can't write about domestic matters outside of the fact the that is one big fucking mountain range of debt . Keep printing money . That always works . Our founders must be weeping . All that trying to reduce the power of government through the Constitution and look what we do with it . Once a people realize they can vote themselves benefits through their representatives , it''s a quick and slippery slope . And once the representatives choose throw parts of the Constitution away ( 10th amendment ) for generations ....

Micah -

The buzzkill comment was strictly pertinent to my post only. I have been appropriately accused in the past of stealing PM Tell's soapbox and ranting.

The timing of the Russian move casts this in an interesting light. On one hand you could make a case that the Russians are forcing Israel's hand - knowing full well that by announcing the fuel delivery/install greatly constrains the window for successful intervention with a minimum of political fallout (pun intended). Russia gets to look like a good guy, but I think they are just as nervous about a nuclear armed Iran parked on top of what's left of the world's relatively easy oil. In the end run, I think Russia would like to see Iran's nuclear program get decapitated by Israel - but will be able to point back and say "Well we tried to help".

It could be an interesting few months - can't wait for the DC Idiocracy to start turning whatever happens into political capital.

And that is why I think all professional, multi-term politicians are fucks.

That's what I think Putin is doing . This tight window forces the pace of the timetable to a sprint . Bibi is no fool and old enough to feel and know the Great Reaping of his people . It must be one tense war room right now . I don't think this is going to be a multilateral decision , either .

We haven't even included an American in our postings . Now , that's a decline of an empire .
Ya' know , I don't think the Jerusalem post did either .
